In the summer time
The village of Igls with its pleasantly fresh air, situated at an altitude of 900 m, has been a climatic-health resort since the turn of the century. Igls offers innumerable hiking-paths, mountaineering, golf courts (18 and 9 holes), facilities for tennis, riding, and for bathing at the nearby Lansersee. At a distance of only 5 kilometers away, there is the 800 years-old former royal capital city of Innsbruck inviting you to visit its theaters, museums, exhibitions and famous sites, or enjoy many shopping facilities and restaurants. You can get there quickly either by bus, or with an electric tramway. You can take the historic tram from Igls to the Tyrolean capital of Innsbruck, going along a winding path trough the woods or take the bus.
In the winter time
Igls by it self is a special village with personality.Why settle for less, when you can have Igls? The Patscherkofel Mountain, one of the most popular ski resort where one can ride up to 2.200 meters by the cable car and by the new 4-seater Olympiaexpress, into the varied skiing area with a legendary past. The "Olympic" mountain, Patscherkofel has well groomed mountain-sides for skiing enjoyment for beginners, children and experts. There are also some superb opportunities to relax in sun and snow. Plenty of snow is guaranteed up to the lower valley thanks to its new artificial snow equipment, from December until the sunny March. Skiing around the Olympic town - Innsbruck: Axamer Lizum, Mutters, Tulfes, Seegrube and Hafelekar. There is a daily free bus transfer of the Tourist Office to take you to your chosen ski resort. Innsbruck Super Ski Pass ofers 200 lifts and 500 kilometers downhill ski runs of the six Olympic ski regions at altitudes between 900 m and 3.200 m. In addition Sightseeing bus can take you to the Stubaier Glacier, the Arlberg and the Kitbühel and other places. Further, there are also 40 kilometers of cross-country tracks, with free instruction for beginners, 2 professional ski schools, many smooth winter hiking ways, funny tobogganing , Olympic bobsleigh run, horse sleigh rides, curling, skating, indoor tennis and squash at the town park.
